Video transcript for Riding Tips
Person one: Before you get back on the bike, here's some tips to help you make the most of your ride.
Let's have a hmmm.
When you're entering a corner, stay wide and slow. And if you can't see the exit, just assume it's going to tighten up. So if it does, you'll be ready for it. And if you find yourself running wide in the corner, just push on the inside handlebar a little bit, it’s called counter steering. It’ll make the bike lean over further so you can stay on track.
Ease into your ride. Tensing up can lead to stiff muscles and less control over your machine. Take a few deep breaths, and you got to hang on, but not too tight. Stay relaxed, look well ahead and enjoy the ride.
At intersections, give yourself enough time and space by positioning yourself where you can be seen. Always be ready to break and have an escape path in mind.
Learn to stop quickly and safely. With most motorbikes, you'll find more than 90% of the stopping power in the front brake. So apply your rear brake and progressively squeeze the front. Allowing just a split second of weight transfer before applying it as hard as you need to. And set your brake levers is in a position where you can reach them naturally and quickly. Practice this in a safe place first, then apply it when you're riding.
Speaking of practice, Ride Forever courses are a great way to hone your skills or learn new ones. So sign up to get even more out of your riding.
