Video transcript for Pre Ride Checks
Person one: Kia ora, if you're getting back on the bike, there's some things you want to check first.
Let's have a hmmm.
Before you go it's important to check the essentials, like tyre condition and pressure. Check your brakes and suspension, check brake light and fluid levels. Make sure your chain is all good, check its tension and lubrication. See the recommended setting on the bike’s swingarm or chain guard. With regards to the chain,
every bike is different, so check the user manual for the amount of tension it should have.
Choosing quality tyres can really improve your bike’s steering and stability, as well as traction. Do your research, read some reviews and chat with a mechanic and find the right tyres for you. So you get the most out of your ride.
Make sure you got good riding gear. Give all your riding gear a once-over, look at the seams, zips and even the armour inserts, and make sure they’re up for the ride too. You don’t really need good riding gear until you need it. As a youngster, I lost count of how many times I hurt my knee, especially when falling off dirt bikes. So get yourself a good pair of knee guards, and they’ll keep your legs warm, too.
There's a few things to think about before you get out there. And a Ride Forever course is a great way to get on top of it all. Sign up to refresh your skills.
See you out there.
